A Note from the Founders

Clients often ask us:

“Where did Get It Done begin? How did this company get started?”

Here’s the story…

How It All Started

About a decade ago, we (Lindsey Smith and Alex Franzen, co-founders of Get It Done) met at a writing workshop.

We felt an immediate connection. That “I feel like I’ve known you forever” feeling.

We bonded over our shared love of books, publishing, and the power of the written word. (We also have a mutual obsession with coffee, true crime podcasts, and anything dog-related.)

We collaborated on several small projects (like co-writing a short book together) before eventually joining forces to co-found our company: Get It Done.

Our Background

Combined, we’ve written more than 14 books in a variety of genres: memoir, fiction, cookbooks, inspirational true stories, and more.

We’ve gotten traditional book deals with top publishers. We’ve self-published our own projects, too. We’ve done multi-city book tours. We’ve started our own publishing imprints. We’ve experienced every facet of the publishing world and know the industry inside and out.

Every Book Is Important

We believe every book matters.

Whether you are a public-school teacher, a physician, a full-time parent, grandparent, or pet parent, you have a book inside of you—and your book will make a difference in someone’s life.

Your book will provide information, inspiration, strength, hope, relief, or perhaps a quiet moment of calm in the midst of someone’s very stressful day.

Whether your book reaches 100 readers or 1 million, it will create a positive ripple effect in the world.

Simpler Than You Think

We know creating a book can feel like a mysterious and daunting experience, especially when you’re a first-time author.

We love demystifying the process and showing you, “This can be simpler than you think.”

When a client tells us, “I have wanted to write a book ever since I was a child. Getting this project done is a lifelong dream come true. I couldn’t have done it without your support,” it’s the greatest feeling. We live for those moments.

We know, firsthand, how incredible it feels to hold your finished book. We love helping you achieve that victorious moment!

Never Too Late

We believe it’s never too soon, or too late, to become an author.

We’ve had clients who are 82 years old, clients in their teens and early 20s, and everything in between.

We also believe there’s no one “correct way” to bring a book into the world. There are so many paths.

You can hire a company like Get It Done to produce your book. You can take a free writing class at your local community center. You can do it yourself using book design templates that you download online. You can pursue a traditional book deal, if that path feels right to you.

There are so many options. So many ways to get it done. Each path is wonderful in its own way.

Whatever path you choose, we are wishing you the greatest success with your project.

Regardless of whether you decide to hire the Get It Done team or not, what matters is that you write your book. That’s what we want for you.

Your dream is doable.

You can get it done.
